This former governor and presidential candidate has shaken hands with many prestigious politicians and business leaders over the years. But I’m sure never someone so “prestigious” and “businessy” as me! In all seriousness though, we were very proud to meet Governor Pawlenty and have him and his wife as our customers!
We had a great time at the Lake Home and Cabin Show and Minneapolis and loved meeting ALL our customers! Thanks again to everyone who helped us out at the show and especially those who bought our maps!
Twin Cities Live!
Our maps were recently featured on the Twin Cities Live television show. A Lake Minnetonka and Pelican Lake map were featured in a segment named “Show your Minnesota Pride”. Along with our maps they featured other local products that represent Minnesota. We were honored to be selected and had a great response from viewers immediately as we started receiving calls just minutes after the segment aired!
Here is the segement (we are the last product they talk about):
The Common’s in Excelsior
For the past month or so a selection of our canvas lake maps have been on display at The Commons in downtown Excelsior. The Commons is an innovative public workspace which selects local artists to display thier art in thier beautiful space. We have chosen an assortment of metro and out-state lakes to display for the duration of the show which goes through June.
In addition to this, next week on Wednesday June 26th from 6-8 there will be a Art Reception at the space. The event will be featuring our maps as well as the work from local artist Al Whitaker who specializes in photos from Lake Minnetonka. We would love it if you could join us for this fun summer event on the shores of Lake Minnetonka. Snacks and refreshments will be provided. Here is a small note from Lindy who is helping host the event.
The Commons is thrilled to have the opportunity to share Brad’s canvas lake maps with our community. We currently have 6 maps exhibited and the response has been so positive. I constantly find people studying one map or another and sharing ‘lake stories’ with our coworkers. Our love of lakes is something all Minnesotans have in common so this type of art has a special way of bringing people together. We’re looking forward to featuring Blueprint Maps at our upcoming art reception, ‘Lake Living’ on Wednesday, June 26 from 6pm to 8pm. -Lindy McClure
The Commons is located at 540 Lake Street in Excelsior and can be reached by phone at 952-474-1001. We hope to see you there on the evening of June 26th from 6-8!

Elections: A great time for map lovers!
Inspired by the big day tomorrow, we realized that a presidential election is a great time for map lovers. If you watch the news on Election Night you are bound to see a map similar to the one posted below about every 5 minutes. The morning after the election you will undoubtedly see a similar map in every newspaper around the country. But why are maps so popular???
We believe the reason people relate so well to maps is because they have fond memories at places shown on them. It sounds simple, but maps represent real places and real experiences for people. This is true whether you are looking at a map of the United States or at a Canvas Lake Map hanging in your cabin. We have grown to understand that when you purchase one of our maps, you are not just purchasing something to look nice on your wall. We have seen it countless times through our customers reactions how our maps represent a place that is very special and close to their hearts. This is what makes what we do so rewarding and also why we work so hard at getting each map just right!
Thank you for reading this and please remember to get out and vote!

Costa Rica Mission Trip
Last week a group of us from the Twin Cities (including my wife Tammy and myself) were able to go on a mission trip to Costa Rica. We spent 7 days with an amazing group of staff and children from an organization called Roblealto. Learn more about them at: www.roblealto.com
The trip was really amazing, mostly due to the incredible connections we were able to form with the children there. Even with our very limited knowledge of spanish, we were able to communicate and become very close with them. These kids are truly amazing, and it is hard to imagine the life they must have endured to land them in this foster home sitution. Needless to say, it was a very moving time for us and it has changed our perspective on the world forever. Here are some photos of the trip.
Chase Tubing…
It was a beautiful day on the lake when we decided to see if Chase wanted to go for a tube ride…
